Quarterly School-Wide Service Projects

Living the reality of the Gospel through service takes many forms on the campus. Each quarter, students participate in a school-wide service project designed to help those in need. In October, our Respect Life Baby Project is an opportunity for students, staff, and families to donate new and used baby items for the Pregnancy Resource Center of Salt Lake and St. Martha’s Baby Project. Peer ministers create, announce, and facilitate the daily collection of items, creating excitement for participation. They then deliver the items to the Pregnancy Resource Center, complete with a tour of the facility.

In December, the Christmas Food Drive supports St. Andrew’s Food Pantry and the Utah Food Bank. During Catholic Schools Week, school leadership chooses a service project to benefit those in need, typically with a collection of hygiene items, and this past year SJBMS collected personal care items for CCS. The 4th quarter service project is Operation Rice Bowl. In conjunction with CRS, the school uses rice bowl boxes to collect funds for a global cause. Also in the Spring, the school has supported Down Syndrome awareness by having a $3 alternative dress day to collect funds for Ruby’s Rainbow, a scholarship fund for children with Down Syndrome.
